Censorship is topic of panel discussion

15 April 1987

Abstract

A panel in McMinnville will address the topic of Censorship and Academic Freedom. Panelists from all around the area will take part in answering questions from the community about his topic. Phyllis Martin, chairperson of the state division of the AAUW, noted that there is a growing censorship movement that is headed by the religious fundamentalists. The issue is with books that have secular humanism, a catchall term for any material that doesn’t advance the religious or political belief system, ideas. The article ends with a few examples of some books that have risen in challenges and, or, censorship in the nation.
