Abstract
Utilizing a Community-Based approach, students from the schools of occupational therapy (OT), physical therapy (PT), dental health science (DHS), pharmacy, and physician assistant studies (PA) completed a needs assessment and initiated services in Granada, Nicaragua in 2007.
An extreme need for access to health care exists in Nicaragua. Elders are often an overlooked population in developing countries and in CBR literature.
Through the project in Nicaragua, the process of CBR to promote sustainable services for elders is demonstrated while addressing the positive impact on students' learning and education.
