Abstract
The Oregon Library Association urged Oregonians not to support the petition sponsored by the Oregon Citizens Alliance. Patrick Grace, chair of the OLA Intellectual Freedom Committee, stated that the initiative is a threat to intellectual freedom and the integrity of libraries. The language in the proposed law could lead to the challenge and removal of library books about homosexuality or those written by homosexual authors. Supporters of the petition want to amend the state constitution and stop special rights for homosexuals.
