Abstract
The Oregon Library Association strongly opposes the petition sponsored by the Oregon Citizens Alliance (OCA) that would amend the state constitution. The language in the proposed law could lead to the challenge and removal of library books about homosexuality or those written by homosexual authors. OCA leaders say that library officials are misrepresenting the facts and that the petition would not threaten free speech. Supporters of the petition want to stop special rights for homosexuals.
