Parents doubt suitability of Pulitzer-winning book

Parents attempted to have "The Color Purple" removed from the reading list for seniors at Junction City High School because of graphic language and sexual content. English teacher Patricia Turley had assigned the book to give students an opportunity to compare representations of life in the South. Superintendent Don Anderson asked a committee to review use of the book. The article author mentions other challenges to "The Color Purple" nationwide.
