Abstract
The West Linn-Wilsonville School District decided to retain "Jumper" in high school and middle school libraries after parents Larry and Jacqueline Dunstan objected to it because of an attempted rape scene depicted in the book. Oregon is ranked second in the nation for the number of challenges to materials during a fourteen year period, according to the group People for the American Way. Librarians and middle schoolers defended the retention of controversial materials in libraries, saying it should be up to families to decide what their children read.
