Policy change allows for children to use Internet at library

24 December 2014

The Library Advisory Board approved a change to Sandy and Hoodland public libraries that would allow minors to use the Internet in the library without requiring parent permission beforehand. This aligned them with the other libraries in Clackamas County. Librarians recognized students needed the computers for homework and parents were not always present, prompting the change. Computers at the library do not have Internet filters. Library Director Sarah McIntyre said parents will still have the ability to monitor their children's use of all library resources.
