Ackerman library books challenged

21 July 1988

Ackerman school board will decide if four books are age appropriate for young adults at Canby Elementary School. A committee was formed after formal complaints against the books were filled; they then read each of the books and discussed them at meetings. The recommendation by the committee was to keep the books, however the final decision will be up to the school board. Patricia R. Smith says that the books encourage the occult and are anti-Christian in nature.
