OCA issue hinged on 'special rights'

21 May 1992

The Register-Guard conducted an exit poll at the recent election to survey Springfield residents about the anti-gay measure. The measure, which was enacted by voters by a 5-4 ratio, amends the Springfield charter to prohibit city government from promoting or facilitating homosexuality. People who voted for the measure are in favor of civil rights for homosexuals, but not special legal protection against discrimination.
