Abstract
School officials are waiting for Measure 9 to be passed before considering curriculum changes. Measure 9 would amend the Oregon Constitution and prohibit elementary and secondary schools from recognizing homosexuality as a “normal” lifestyle. Some textbooks and library books that help children understand homosexuality would violate state law and have to be removed. Two books that are at the center of the debate about Measure 9, "Daddy’s Roommate" and "Heather Has Two Mommies" are not currently available in Salem’s school and public libraries.
