Textbook censorship trend frightens educators

1 June 1952

Educators are increasingly alarmed at the level of censorship that is being pursued in academic learning materials. Every state has an official group of people who look over learning materials, but recently increasing numbers of voluntary censorship groups have been looking for and eradicating "subversive" and "un-American" passages and materials. Educators fear that this increase in censorship affects their ability to provide a well-rounded education as well as censorship's increased erosion of American values.
