City restricts youth access to 'R' movies

24 November 1993

The Springfield City Council asked Springfield Library director Bob Russell to change its policy so that children younger than 16 would no longer be able to check out R-rated films from the library's collection. This was in response to a parent's complaint that their child brought home an R-rated movie. Library staff preferred to keep the current policy which allows any library card holder to borrow any material.
