Playboy won't travel

7 November 1984

The Coos Bay city council voted 5-1 to ask the city library not to allow minors to check out Playboy magazine. People Opposing Pornography had asked the council to override a recent decision to keep Playboy in the public library. Paula Bechtold, city attorney, said that the library board had been appointed to set the libraries policies and so the city council had no right to overturn their decision. The library board voted unanimously to keep Playboy magazine in the library despite the protests of People Opposing Pornography.
