Play promotes occult

29 November 1989

In this opinion piece, Kim Turner writes to say that the play being put on at Thurston High School promotes occult activities. Turner explains that the significance of activities such as séances, Ouija boards, and mediums has been knows for a long time. They do not just become false when performed in a play setting. She describes how a graduate told her of an aerobics class and how they cooled down for one hour. The student says that they were told to picture yourself as the perfect you, and she described a feeling of being awake while unconscious. Turner then states that it is illegal to teach religion in schools and that these practices are linked to Hinduism and New Age thinking.
