County library district opposes Measure 9

23 September 1992

The Lincoln County Library District Board of Trustees adopted a resolution opposing Ballot Measure 9, and urged citizens to vote against the measure. The board stated its responsibility to oppose censorship and protect intellectual freedom. If passed, the controversial amendment to Oregon’s Constitution could require the removal of books about homosexuality. The Oregon Citizens Alliance threatened to remove ‘certain offensive books’ when a similar measure was adopted in Springfield, Oregon.
