Abstract
Copper, brass, steel, electroformed copper, fur
3" x 4" x 4"
When the viewer tries to open this piece, a spring provides resistance, making it seem as if the hand is pulling back. When the lid is let go, it snaps shut again. The bars are representative of how an attitude of isolation and resistance to change can become a prison. The fur represents the comfort a closed mind can provide.
