Measure 9 would block information

1 October 1992

The Tigard Public Library board of trustees unanimously adopted a resolution to oppose Ballot Measure 9. If passed, the measure would amend Oregon’s Constitution and prohibit state and local governments from using public funds or property to promote homosexuality. This measure conflicts with the mission of public libraries to provide a variety of materials. The board stated its support of the American Library Association’s Bill of Rights and the Freedom to Read.
