Library tidings: News about the Siuslaw Public Library

26 September 2012

Banned Books Week, a national event sponsored by the American Library Association, is a time to celebrate the freedom to read. The annual event draws attention to the problem of censorship in school and public libraries. More than 11,300 books have been challenged in libraries since 1982. The Siuslaw Public Library staff created a display of “challenged” books and will be screening a movie that was “a victim of censorship.”
