School panel asked to pull suspense book from shelves

18 December 1980

The presence of a 'scary ghost story' book on the Astor elementary school library shelves is questioned by a concerned parent. The parent believes it delves into the occult. A seven member committee appointed by the local school board will read and recommend how the material should be managed. The district's Instructional Materials Review Committee also held open hearings for parents to express their opinions.
