Local author revels in censorship fight

11 October 2012

Multnomah County Library has received several recent challenges to library materials for containing offensive language, including articles written by the historical editor for the St. Johns Review. All 15 books, articles and DVDs were retained by the library after a review of the challenges. County library branches have a formal review system to handle complaints, and only one book has been removed from the collection in the past few years. Oregon recorded 24 challenges to library materials in 2010.
