Abstract
Eugene lawyer Jerry Lidz was scheduled to speak at the Eugene Public Library about banned books, Internet censorship, and the U.S. Supreme Court's decision to strike down the Communications Decency Act. The presentation was part of a month long "Celebrate Your Freedom to Read" campaign. Librarian Carol Hildebrand commented about challenges to books in Oregon and the role of the library in pursuit of intellectual freedom. A few titles challenged in Oregon are highlighted.
