Beleagured paintings simply 'honest expressions,' says artist

1 January 1989

A local minister and members of his congregation voiced concern over two paintings, Lust and Virtue, by Bill Lutz. Nude figures are present in the paintings. The concern expressed was the paintings being hung on a wall in the children's area of the Seaside Public Library. Lutz considers the paintings expressions of emotion. The obscenity complaint was not pursued.
