Don't let Joe read it

7 July 1953

This article reviews the decision by the American Library Association to issue a statement strongly condemning the censorship of materials by some Americans. The library association stated that the freedom to read is essential to democracy, and that Americans have the ability to recognize propaganda. The author of this article agrees with that sentiment and condemns censorship of anything for political and non-political reasons beyond the bare minimum of maintaining moral decency in publications and entertainment.
