Pathologic condition of the mouth of a young woman who for many years had not used any but her left front posterior teeth, nor any toothbrush, as is evident. All the teeth presented on their labial aspect thick layers of food in various stages of decomposition. Here large cervical cavities could be found. The gingivitis was no doubt occasioned by the lack of function, plus lack of hygiene, and the marked hypertrophy in the upper part, probably by mouth breathing. The lingual gingivae were normal and pink and no caries was to be found there. The cleansing and massaging action of the tongue had probably influenced that part.
