Abstract
The Oregon Intellectual Freedom Clearinghouse provides a summary of the year’s challenges in libraries around Oregon. During the last year (1995-1996) there were thirty challenges that were recorded. Most libraries choose to keep access open, only one library restricted access to children under sixteen. Twelve challenges were for material that was considered too scary or violent. Twelve more were for sexual themes or graphic language. Two challenges were for reference to homosexuality, a decline from thirty-five in 1992-1993.
