Abstract
The Searching is Strategic Exploration: First-Year Seminar (FYS) Lesson Plan provides a transparent, step-by-step teaching guide for delivering a one-shot instruction session to incoming freshmen students. Using aspects of the Searching is Strategic Exploration ACRL Framework as the foundation for developing the lesson plan, the outcome is to apply consistent and common practices among the numerous FYS sections regardless which librarian teaches the specific session. The skills introduced and developed in FYS provides the groundwork for subsequent information literacy skills building opportunities (e.g. expository writing or discipline-specific research methods courses).
