The fairy tale “Three Billy Goats Gruff” has passed its first test but still has two more to face in a fight to ban the story from the shelves of school libraries. Parents have complained that the story is too violent and advocates hurting your enemies in order to solve your problems. Hazen Barnard, school administrator, is in favor of keeping the book and stated that if The Three Billy Goats Gruff go then the Three Little Pigs are next. The parents who filed the complaint didn’t appear at the meeting where the book was voted unanimously to be kept in schools. The final two hurdles come in the form of a report to the superintendent who will then make a recommendation to the school board at their June meeting. The article ends with a description of the story of the Three Billy Goats Gruff.
