Book badgering

14 November 1953

This article reviews a long list of examples from across the U.S. of independent committees, community members, and police officials taking it upon themselves to censor reading materials within their towns and cities. The author celebrates the fact that similar actions have yet to take place in Portland. In one township a U.S. district judge cracked down on the chief of police for censoring books without any authority, an action the author claims should happen in all locations where people decide to censor reading materials.
