Abstract
Two muscle stretching techniques were compared to test their effectiveness of increasing hamstring length. The study was conducted on thirty healthy volunteers who were randomly divided into two groups. Group I performed a sustained yoga stretch with incorporated diaphragmatic breathing. Group II performed an active contract-relax stretch. The results showed no significant differences at the .05 level between the two methods of increasing hip flexion, indicating that both techniques might be used effectively to increase range of motion.
