This is a study of factors that motivate girls' fast pitch softball players to play at the collegiate level. This qualitative research focused on the following questions: 1) What factors motivate girls' fast pitch softball players to play at the collegiate level? 2) What role do parents play in influencing and encouraging their daughters to play at the collegiate level? 3) How does participation in ASA programs prepare softball players to play in college? 4) How do ASA coaches motivate and encourage girls to continue playing in college? Data for this study were gathered by surveying ten ASA softball teams ranging in age from 10 & under to 18 & under. Additional sources of information came from interviewing parents, coaches, and current college players and observing practice sessions. It was found that players, parents, ar;d coaches have higher expectations for A level players compared to B level players. Results show that players perceive that their coaches and their ASA experience are preparing them to play at the college level
