It has been thought that binge drinking is less of a problem for Asian-American college students. This is not completely true, Asian-American college students who engage in binge drinking activity tend to drink more frequently and consume more alcohol per sitting than their Caucasian counterparts. Previous research has linked binge drinking activity to acculturation and life goals. Asian-American participants completed questionnaires regarding life goals, acculturation, and drinking habits. Participants who reported achievement-type goals reported little difference in acculturation, but lower frequency and quantity of alcohol consumption than participants who reported process type goals. Conclusions could not be drawn from the data due to a small participant pool however the data have led to ideas to improve research in this area.
