Jesness-based personality types among juvenile sexual offenders

The potential for a useful tpyology for juvenile sexual offenders was investigated a The sample consisted of 150 juvenile sexual offenders between the ages of 12 and 17 who had at least one documented sexual offense and who had taken the Jesness Inventory during their initial evaluation or intake process. Multivariate statistical techniques were utilized to determine if subgroups of juvenile sexual offenders emerged. It was found that while there are some different types of juvenile sex offenders, the categories arrived at do not appear to be of clinical signifigance. suggestions for future research are given.
