Perceived control and social support among older adults: A literature review

A literature search was conducted of materials published between 1985 and 1994 which examine control beliefs and social support networks and their relationship to the mental health and psychological well-being of the elderly. Most empirical research suggests a positive relationship between internal control beliefs and the development and maintenance of effective social support networks.
