Abstract
This study explored the relationship between body dissatisfaction of 69 female Eastern-European immigrants in the United States and the ethnicity of their romantic partner (Eastern-European vs. non Eastern-European). Results showed no difference between body dissatisfaction of women with Eastern-European partners and women with non Eastern-European partners. Significant correlations were also found between disordered eating behaviors and acculturation; between relationship satisfaction and body dissatisfaction, disordered eating, and BMI; and between acculturation and partner ethnicity. It was concluded that factors other than partner ethnicity contribute to body dissatisfaction of female Eastern-European immigrants in the United. These factors may include acculturation, BMI and relationship satisfaction. Future studies should further investigate of the relationship between acculturation and disordered eating.
