Making connections: mathematics across the curriculum. An analysis of the teachers' role in connecting mathematics to students' experiences and other subject areas.

1 January 1995

Educators have the awesome opportunity to teach students how to be successful problem solvers. Unfortunately, in an effort to create the perfect student, some teachers overwhelm students with rote learning and memorization, particularly in mathematics instruction. This may cause the student to lose interest in mathematics because it is no longer attractive to them. This paper is an analysis of two veteran, primary teachers and their attempts to teach mathematics so that it is meaningful to their students.
