Program evaluation of home-based parental involvement and school communication at a rural Oregon charter school

Abstract

Parental satisfaction with school to home communication and parental at-home involvement were examined at a rural charter school. A qualitative survey was created based on previous research and current needs of the charter school. Results demonstrated at-home involvement is important to parents and regularly engaged in. Additionally, parents reported satisfaction with the current communication methods the charter school uses to disseminate information to parents about their child’s academic standing, homework, and school functions. Recommendations from the comments received from parents and the results of the survey were provided to the charter school.
