Validation of the Female Sexual Function Index

1 May 2006

Clinical Bottom Line: This study successfully developed a 19-item questionnaire (FSFI), which was found to be psychometrically sound through construct validity and test reliability. The FSFI is a multi-factorial questionnaire, which is an important element of female sexual function. A strong element of the FSFI is that it is a short questionnaire, easy and cost effective to administer, and is able to distinguish between a healthy control group and women with Female Sexual Arousal Disorder (FSAD). In order to further strengthen the FSFI, additional studies need to be done to validate it in additional populations.
