Teacher response to student writing

30 July 1996

In this paper, the ways in which teachers respond to student writing is scrutinized in terms of the writers workshop, a method of teaching writing which allows the students daily writing practice in an atmosphere of great freedom of authorship. The results of this study suggest that students need more writing practice than they usually receive in the public schools, as well as more conscientious grading and attention from teachers in order to succeed as writers.
