Abstract
This paper examines the various seating arrangements within the elementary classroom. The information provides seating arrangement ideas for educators and teachers to utilize in their classrooms and to promote a positive classroom learning environment. The focus of the paper revolves around the idea of straight row seating arrangements versus grouping of desks. The observations took place in a third grade classroom and a fourth/fifth combination classroom in a local elementary classroom. I . interviewed an elementary school teacher who has over thirty years experience in teaching to determine the types of seating arrangements used in elementary classrooms. I used a survey to gather further information from teachers about the function and diversity of their.seating arrangements.
