Abstract
This thesis is a review of the literature which explores the relationship between bulimia and major depression. The majority of these studies are based on assessment, cognitive behavioral, or biochemical models. This literature strongly supports a comorbidity between the two disorders. As most of this research has taken place in the United States and Great Britain, differing criteria used in defining bulimia and major depression are also discussed. These findings would seem to support further research as to whether this comorbidity is appreciated in clinical practice.
