Lesbian and adolescent suicide: A literature review of major contributing factors

13 December 1996

Suicidal ideation and behavior have been steadily increasing among the adolescent population in the United States, and have been identified as a significant problem for gay/lesbian adolescent suicidal behavior and ideation. The differences among risk factors for gay/lesbian adolescents and for their heterosexual counterparts are discussed. Directions for further research are suggested.
