The purpose of this analytical research paper is to expose the reader to the unique lifestyle that a high school student-athlete chooses. The type of reaction that fellow students and teachers have toward student-athletes and the role the student-athlete has in the school environment are questions explored. The qualitative style of research used in this paper revealed a student-athlete that must deal with the demands of academics, sports, social activities, proper rest, proper diet and the community. There are realistic and unrealistic expectations student-athletes possess. There are biases that student-athletes face in school, yet the student-athlete is revered in high school as a role most students would like to assume. Student-athletes are a large part of any high school and their uniqueness should be better understood by teachers.
