Mock Trials are a flexible and effective instructional method not only for the Social Studies classroom, but for any subject area that can use it's imagination, and a little preparation. Mock Trials are used in a number of settings, for several different ages and for numerous purposes. While they have found their way into many classrooms, and there are organizations which promote and teach their use in high schools in particular, there are a number of questions that arise after further examination. As one observes students placing each other on trial, or taking the role of a witness or juror, he/she might ask how effective this is, and exactly how does it benefit the student; This thesis serves to give a thorough evaluation of Mock Trials, specifically in a High School Social Studies Classroom.
