Determining the Accuracy of the TeleStroke Mimic Score as a Prediction Rule for Identifying Stroke Mimics in Telestroke and Prehospital Evaluations

May 2020

Patients evaluated for a stroke-like clinical picture, who in turn have alternative conditions other than cerebrovascular diseases (CVD), are labeled as stroke mimic (SM). Up to 30% of acute stroke evaluations are deemed stroke mimics. A predictive model was developed to prospectively identify SMs during Telestroke evaluations. This model was evaluated in several Telestroke networks and in an in-person, pre-hospital setting.
