This analytical paper attempts to determine the importance of establishing and maintaining distinct hierarchical levels between teachers and their students in order to maintain efficient classroom management. In addition, the affects of the spaces surrounding individuals were also examined to ascertain what influence, if any, spatial distances had in encouraging or discouraging. effective intercommunication within the educational setting. The observations for this paper were made at a suburban junior high school, and the foundation for this study was influenced by a wide range of literature concerning proxemics and classroom management. The findings suggest that it may not be necessary to establish a hierarchical order within the classroom for most efficient classroom management, but rather that an authoritative teaching style and a from grasp of content knowledge will be the greatest assets toward achieving the most desirable classroom environment
